Cooler forecast pleases Hayden

Nicky Hayden is thankful that cooler weather is forecast for this weekend's US Grand Prix, after temperatures reached 36 degrees celsius in the shade at the Sachsenring a week ago

The extreme temperatures in Germany caused overheating worries for several riders, including Hayden.

The forecast for Laguna Seca suggests temperatures in the mid-20 degree range.

The Yamahas had the most severe overheating problems in Germany, with Valentino Rossi's water temperature reaching 120 degrees before he crashed while making an urgent move on Randy de Puniet in a bid to get ahead of the Kawasaki and into clear air.

Tech 3 rider Sylvain Guintoli also fell when temperature problems seized the engine of his satellite Yamaha.

Hayden said that the Honda riders had also suffered with the heat in Germany.

"(Shinya) Nakano and (Carlos) Checa and a few other guys had some problems too, especially at the beginning when I was in a big pack," he said.

"The clear air was better to run in."

He revealed that Honda had worked on some solutions in case Laguna saw similar conditions, but did not expect them to be necessary this weekend.

"We have a few things that they've brought to the track this week," Hayden said.

"It doesn't look like its going to be a problem this week with the forecast."
