Hodgson not interested in MotoGP
Neil Hodgson has said that he did not want to make a one-off return to MotoGP to ride in place of the injured Toni Elias
The former World Superbike champion is without a full-time ride this year, but he said that he has little interest in competing in MotoGP.
"I don't want to race in MotoGP, to be honest," Hodgson told autosport.com. "Most riders wouldn't say that but it's true.
"I had no interest in taking a bike that I didn't think would be competitive with me on it."
Hodgson last raced in MotoGP in 2004 on a D'Antin Ducati, and he admitted that he would only return to the championship if he felt he was on a very competitive bike.
"Obviously I wanted to do well in MotoGP, but unless you're on one of two makes of bike, you don't really stand a chance," he added.
"Some people think it was quite a hard decision for me to make but it wasn't. Because I've done MotoGP, I've ticked all the boxes I wanted to tick."
Hodgson spent a brief spell earlier this season as a test rider for Bridgestone, where he rode the 800cc Ducati that is currently leading the world championship with Casey Stoner.
"My contract was short, but I really enjoyed doing it," he said. "I'm not allowed to say what we've done, but I know I've done my bit, which is good."
