Ducati would welcome Rossi on Bridgestone

Rossi has put a lot of Casey Stoner's success this year down to tyres, and the Italian has admitted that he is keen to switch from the Michelin rubber that he has raced on during his entire time in the top class of MotoGP.

"From a certain aspect I could even say we are pleased about it," Suppo was quoted as saying by Italian magazine Motosprint.

"We have a strong package, a winning bike and rider, so to have identical tyres is a stimulus.

"Casey will be able to fight on an equal footing with - I'm not saying the strongest rider because in my opinion that is Casey today - but with the seven-time champion."

Suppo also said that he had no problem with Bridgestone potentially supplying one of Ducati's strongest rivals.

"Ducati chose Bridgestone, they invested, they took risks, and eventually they got the results," he said. "But if something goes well it can't be expected to stay exclusive.

"It's obvious that sooner or later that solution will be used by someone else too. Valentino wants to have as many things equal to Stoner as possible."

The Ducati boss added that he feels Rossi is taking a risk by trying to move to Bridgestone.

"In order to beat him, we chose to make a different choice by adding an extra variable," he said.

"His reasoning is the opposite of our reasons in 2005. Today he eliminates that variable. It's a brave choice."
