Tech 3 expect equipment parity

Tech 3 team boss Herve Poncheral is adamant that the Yamaha 800cc bike he will have next year will be of the same specification as Valentino Rossi's works team bike

Yamaha's satellite squad recently signed World Superbike Championship leader James Toseland for 2008, and then set the fastest time in Friday practice at the Czech Grand Prix with Sylvain Guintoli.

"Yamaha have always been very straight with us at Tech 3," Poncheral said.

"And we can see that whenever we overlay data or similar things from our bike to the FIAT bike of Valentino. I have no problem on that front."

Tech 3 are currently the only team in MotoGP to run Dunlop tyres. Poncheral is still uncertain about what tyres he will run in 2008, but autosport.com understands that both Michelin and Bridgestone are in the frame, as well as Dunlop. Autosport.com also understands that the decision on tyres will be made by Tech 3, rather than Yamaha.

Poncheral added that he had devoted the break between Laguna Seca and Brno to finalising the deal with Toseland.

"As such I didn't go on holiday, but instead I just worked hard in getting James signed for 2008," he said.

"It was very good news for me persoanlly when it was done."
