Tomczyk relieved to be in contention
Martin Tomczyk is relieved that he has not lost too much ground in the championship battle after Sunday's DTM race at Lausitz
The German driver went into the third weekend of the season tied for the lead in the standings but, after missing out on any points at the weekend, he is now eight points adrift of championship leader Paul di Resta.
Tomczyk was angry with the officials after the race, as he felt that he would have finished in the points without all of the disruptions caused by two safety car periods.
"Everything got messed up behind the safety car," he said. "I was third at one point, then I was 13th. After a race like this it's good that we haven't lost it all in the championship. I'm still second with two other drivers."
Tomczyk, Mattias Ekstrom, and Gary Paffett are all tied on 12 points, and the Audi driver believes that his team will find their form again at Brands Hatch after a difficult weekend.
"With the 28 kilos difference (to the 2007 Mercedes) it was not easy to push hard and be where you wanted to be last weekend," he said.
"We saw last year that we can be fast at Brands, and we will have less weight so things should be more equal again," he said.
