Spengler takes Lausitz pole
Bruno Spengler took his second pole position of the season as Mercedes filled the top five places in qualifying at Lausitz
The Canadian will share the front row with Mika Hakkinen, while Paul di Resta's third place prevented the 2007-specification Mercedes from locking out the front two rows of the grid.
Bernd Schneider and Jamie Green completed the top five, while Alexandre Premat was the only Audi driver to get through to the third and final section of qualifying.
The Frenchman was sixth fastest ahead of Alexandros Margaritis and Daniel La Rosa, who shone in their 2006-spec Mercedes, while their teammate Gary Paffett could only qualify in 13th place.
Mattias Ekstrom was the highest-placed 2007-spec Audi in ninth place, just ahead of his teammates Timo Scheider and Martin Tomczyk, while Adam Carroll was close behind all three in his two-year-old Audi.
Carroll's late effort to get into the second section of qualifying ended the hopes of Mike Rockenfeller repeating his Oschersleben performance, and the German driver will start Sunday's race from 15th on the grid.
