Priaulx to stay with BMW UK in '08

Andy Priaulx will continue to race for BMW UK in the WTCC in 2008, BMW have announced

The reigning world champion will remain with Bart Mampaey's Team RBM, the outfit that he has won titles with for the past three seasons.

"The renewal of my partnership with BMW and Team RBM is a timely boost for all the team as we head out to Macau," said Priaulx, who is one of six drivers in contention for the title this weekend.

"There's no doubt we're in for another exciting finale and to win a third world crown would just be incredible.

"It's been a united effort all season where we've had to fight harder than ever for every point."

BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen, who will be in Macau this weekend, added: "We are delighted that Andy will once again be taking part in the WTCC as a BMW works driver.

"With his racing successes he has made an incredible mark on the WTCC."

Priaulx is one of three BMW drivers still in with a chance of the title, but Theissen feels that the manufacturers' crown is more important for BMW.

"For BMW, the manufacturers' championship is top priority," he added. "In 2005 and 2006 we fielded the best cars - the BMW 320i and the BMW 320si. This season our main aim is to prove that we can do the same again."
