Whincup claims race two pole

Whincup topped the times ahead of Todd Kelly, who won a race at this circuit last year, with Sprint Gas Racing's Greg Murphy and Holden Racing Team's Will Davison completing the top four, all covered by less than a tenth of a second.

Behind them are the two Ford Performance Racing cars of Mark Winterbottom and Steven Richards, with Fabian Coulthard, the Jim Beam duo of James Courtney and Steven Johnson, and Garth Tander in the second HRT car completing the top ten.

After running a close second in race one having started yesterday's race from fourth, Russell Ingall did not have such a good run, qualifying in 12th position, just behind Shane van Gisbergen and just ahead of Lee Holdsworth.

Three offs in the session didn't help the other Team Vodafone car of Craig Lowndes, his best effort only good enough for 16th.

Three drivers who struggled in Saturday's qualifying did so again, Jason Richards in 20th, Paul Dumbrell in 25th and Cameron McConville in 26th again further down the order than expected.
