Jani takes Durban feature race win
Neel Jani cemented Team Switzerland's place at the head of the A1GP points table with a calm win in a crazy race in Durban
In an event that took seven laps to get going, and was red-flagged four laps ahead of the scheduled end, Jani kept his cool, and out of trouble, to record his fourth win of the season.
Jani took the lead from pole at the start, and although Rob Wickens gave chase for Canada, he was never really close enough to pull a move.
When Wickens spun and then crashed into Team GB's Oliver Jarvis a chaotic end ensued, but it also served to confirm Jani's win ahead of a charging Loic Duval of Team France.
Duval showed his class to avoid the multiple shunts and work his way into second in his final A1GP race of the season.
It was Filipe Albuquerque's debut weekend, and he delivered a spectacular (if fortunate) podium for Team Portugal.
Adrian Zaugg had a messy race for South Africa. He was involved in two of the three Safety Car incidents and his massively optimistic lunge at the final restart brought about the red flag.
Zaugg took out Jeroen Bleekemolen (Team Holland) as he skidded down the inside into the first hairpin and a pile-up built behind them.
But Holland were classified fourth on countback ahead of Fairuz Fauzy (Malaysia) and a flying Franky Cheng (China), who earned an extra point for fastest lap. Zaugg was listed as seventh in the results ahead of Edoardo Piscopo (Italy) and Bruno Junqueira (Brazil).
It was a nightmare race for title chasing Jonny Reid (New Zealand). The Kiwi was waved into the path of David Garza (Mexico) following his first mandatory pitstop. This earned him a broken nosecone and a drive-through penalty. However, the high attrition rate meant he picked up the final point in tenth.
