Ammermuller claims unfair treatment
Michael Ammermuller has hit out at A1GP officials after being slapped with his fourth driving standards penalty of the season in yesterday's sprint race at Durban
The German was excluded from the race for taking the Team Holland car of Jeroen Bleekemolen out of sixth place at the final corner.
On his series debut at Sepang in November he was slapped with a 25-second penalty in the sprint race. He was later given a drive-through penalty and then thrown out of the feature race after collisions with the Canadian and British cars.
But he believes yesterday's penalty in South Africa was unfair and claimed that Team Germany are being treated overly harshly.
"Every time I do something that is not exactly 100% clear, I get the worst penalty," he said. "To me it looks like Germany shouldn't win.
"In the feature race Australia hit me from behind and turned me around when I was already in the corner. If I got disqualified then half the field should be disqualified this weekend as well."
Bleekemolen slammed Ammermuller's driving after the incident, branding him "mad."
"He's just mad, he's pushing people off at every race," fumed the Dutchman. "He hit me three times, not just when I went off but beforehand too, and the last time was just so hard I went off. I still don't know what he was thinking.
"This guy is impossible to race against, we have to look at this. I was really angry, it's a disgrace. The exclusion was right, he lost his points - that's the way it should be. I never want to talk to this guy again in my life."
Bleekemolen was later taken out of the feature race by Adrian Zaugg, but was more forgiving of the South African's optimistic move.
"Zaugg's move was also stupid, but he wasn't behind me trying to push me nearly off the road. Of course you can overshoot, and he was way too optimistic, but that can happen. With Germany, he hit more often."
But Ammermuller protested his innocence: "He was a lot slower than me and I tried many times to overtake him. For sure he saw me coming and he just came over and braked.
"He came to the inside very late and I was already turning in. I just hit him a little bit and spun him round - like when Australia shunted into me or Zaugg's accident in the feature race. He could have avoided the collision so it was a racing incident, I shouldn't get disqualified for it."
