Injured Barros expects tough weekend

D'Antin Ducati's Alex Barros says he will struggle this weekend at Laguna Seca following his big crash in last week's German Grand Prix

The practice incident  at the Sachsenring left Barros with a large wound in the top of his right hand.

Riding with pain killing injections, the Brazilian got up to seventh position during the race before falling.

This weekend may be even harder for Barros as Laguna's twisty 2.23-mile track is regarded as even more physically demanding.

"I'm going to try and see what I can get away with tomorrow with regards to pain killers," Barros said.

"Last week I took pain killers that could have knocked out a horse.

"This is not going to be an easy weekend.

"I can just about hold on to the throttle with three fingers, which is pretty good considering that it is normally 20 days for people to get over injuries like this.

"And on top of that, I've lost the skin off the top of my thigh, so that makes things pretty bad."

Barros' teammate Alex Hofmann is also recovering from a hand injury, although his was sustained when he caught it in a car door last week.

The German is also in pain from a blister on his right foot that turned septic after the Sachsenring race. He does not expect the condition to interfere with his race.
