Hayden undecided about control tyre
Nicky Hayden says he is unsure what stance to take over the possibility of a single tyre rule being introduced in MotoGP
Last month Dorna floated the idea of ending the current tyre war in favour of a single supplier in 2008 and promised that a decision would be taken by next weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix.
Many riders and both leading tyre manufacturers have stated their opposition to the plan, but Hayden said he was in a quandary.
"I can't really call it," said the former world champion. "It's a tough call but I suppose I'd love to see a single tyre to level the playing field, but I also enjoy the competition and I enjoy seeing Michelin fighting back.
"I'd say I hope they don't do the tyre rule; we've just got to go back and answer the bell."
While Hayden has been hamstrung at some races by a lack of performance from the Michelins used by his Repsol Honda team, he has also suffered from pure misfortune in recent rounds - for example his first corner crash at Misano and the change of weather conditions on race day at Motegi.
