Hayden gets revised fairing for Qatar
World Champion Nicky Hayden will use a modified fairing for the very first time tomorrow during the opening free practice session for the first race of the 2007 season
Honda engineers are fitting the 'kick-ups' in an effort to push some of the air over the top of Hayden's shoulders after the American complained that he was losing speed on straights during winter testing with the significantly smaller fairing used in the new Honda bike.
Honda have been testing the current interim fairing in the wind tunnel in Japan with a rider wearing an actual set of Hayden's leathers so as to get his size correct for the tests.
Much discussion has taken place over the winter months about the new Honda 800cc machine being of a smaller size in order to assist Dani Pedrosa, but in reality the wheelbase is similar to the previous bike.
The position of the seat is similar too. The fuel tank has been moved backwards under the seat, while the illusion of the small tail makes the entire bike look smaller to the eye.
