Zaugg hails decision to skip GP2
A1GP polesitter Adrian Zaugg has admitted he made the correct decision in opting to race in Zandvoort rather than compete in the GP2 finale at Valencia
Speaking after he had taken both pole positions for the two A1 races tomorrow, the South African said: "It was a good decision to do A1 and not GP2.
"I have to say thanks to the team for giving me a great car and I hope to score as many points as possible tomorrow."
Zaugg has had a largely disappointing season in GP2 with Arden, but he now finds himself ideally placed to repeat his A1GP success from Zandvoort last year.
"In 2006 we did really well in the first race but not so well in the feature. I hope to do much better in the feature this year," he added.
Zaugg's closest competition in the sprint race qualifying was Team France driver Loic Duval, but he lost hopes of pole when he ran off the track.
"It was 100 per cent my fault," he admitted. "I was just pushing too hard and we ran off the road. But Adrian did an excellent job and I'm not sure if we could have gone as fast as him."
