Tracy 'Disappointed' with da Matta
Paul Tracy has blamed fellow ex-Champ Car World Series Champion Cristiano da Matta for costing him pole position in the final qualifying session at Toronto last night
The Canadian claimed that da Matta baulked a lap that would have been quick enough to usurp Sebastien Bourdais from the top of the charts.
"I'm disappointed with Cristiano," he said. "I had a lap that was up (on Bourdais) until two corners from the end. We were two tenths quicker.
"He (da Matta) was starting another lap and didn't let me go. So it's pretty frustrating."
Tracy then lost his final chance to challenge Bourdais when Alex Sperafico's crash in turn six brought the session to a slightly early end.
"I slowed down to try and get some room and then the red flag came out," he said.
Bourdais and Tracy are now just one point apart in the Champ Car standings, and have been closely matched all weekend. Despite yesterday's frustrations, Tracy is expecting a spectacular contest this afternoon, and throughout the remaining races.
"I think we're both looking forward to a good race," he said. "It's a Championship race from here till the end of the season.
"It's going to be fun."
