Peugeot tops Sebring test day two

Peugeot moved ahead of Audi on the second day of unofficial testing for the Sebring 12 Hours, although the times were a second slower than Audi's Monday pace

Nicolas Minassian headed the field on Tuesday with a lap of 1m44.555s in the No.07 Peugeot 908, 0.259s quicker than the Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Dindo Capello Audi R15.

The No.1 Audi was third fastest, while the second Peugeot did not set a competitive time after Sebastien Bourdais had a trip off the road early on.

De Ferran Motorsports' Scott Dixon was the best of the Acura drivers in fourth, lapping 1.159s off Minassian's pace.

The No.20 Dyson Lola-Mazda was again the only LMP2 car running as the team waits for parts for its No.16 car.

"We are waiting on a couple final parts for the second car, which is a little disappointing," said driver Guy Smith. "Last year we had both cars out by the this time. But once it's out it should be very good."

Gianmaria Bruni was quickest in GT2 again for the Advanced Engineering Ferrari team, but played down the FIA GT Championship squad's race chances.

"I obviously know the car and the track from running here with Risi Competizione last season," he said. "The car is not new to the team but this is the first time for many of them racing in the United States.

"But it has been a good experience so far. Our goal is to make it through the entire race. We won't be the quickest one for sure but this is all a learning experience."

The Farnbacher Loles Porsche was 0.842s adrift of Bruni in second in class, and just ahead of the Risi Ferrari and the No.45 Flying Lizard Porsche.
