World Champion Michael Schumacher is confident of winning his fifth Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday despite being clearly beaten by the Williams duo of Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher in today's qualifying session at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
The German driver, who had topped the timesheets in Friday's practice, dominated the initial part of the session today and looked set to grab his tenth pole position of the season at his favourite circuit, where he is celebrating ten years since he joined Formula One back in 1991.
However, the Ferrari star was unable to match the Williams drivers' pace having to settle for third, and though he admitted he was expecting the BMW-powered cars to be quick, Schumacher was confident the race situation will be different.
"It already looked from the times this morning that Williams could do something here," said Schumacher. "But they have advantage in one area and a disadvantage in another. The race is a long way and it should be alright for us.
"It was very tight for us to use the dry tyres at the end of the session. When I went out right at the end I really didn't think I could improve but while I was circling to start my fast lap it dried enough for me to be able to go faster."
