Ralf keen to end Toyota career on a high
Ralf Schumacher is hoping to bring his relationship with Toyota to a positive end by getting the team back into the points in this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix
The German announced after Fuji that his three-year tenure at Toyota would come to an end after the 2007 season, and admitted that the relationship had not proved to be as fruitful as he had originally expected.
But he said he was still determined to go out on a high by getting a good result for Toyota at Interlagos.
"I am coming to the end of my time at Toyota after three seasons," Schumacher said.
"It has been an enjoyable and interesting time in my career, even if I would like to have had better results. It has been a hard season for me and the team but I am really motivated to get a good result in Brazil so we can end on a high note.
"After two troubled races in Japan and China, I hope we can bounce back in Brazil."
Toyota have not scored since the Hungarian Grand Prix, and have now lost touch with Red Bull in the battle for fifth in the constructors' championship. They are now just four points ahead of Toro Rosso after the Red Bull satellite team's success in China.
Schumacher's teammate Jarno Trulli is also eager to end the year with a good result as he has not been in the points since Indianapolis in June - despite qualifying in the top ten for 13 out of the 16 races held so far in 2007. A variety of misfortunes and a string of poor starts have contributed to his failure to score.
"It's been a really hard few races for me and the team so I am keen to end the season with an improved result before we focus all our energies on 2008," Trulli said.
"We have the potential to score points but we have to push hard and not make any mistakes."
