Point-Less Honda Determined to Fight On

Japanese engine manufacturer Honda are still point-less after four races of the 2002 season following yet another frustrating weekend for both the Jordan and British American Racing teams.

Japanese engine manufacturer Honda are still point-less after four races of the 2002 season following yet another frustrating weekend for both the Jordan and British American Racing teams.

Only Jacques Villeneuve in the Honda-powered BAR was able to finish today's San Marino's Grand Prix, but despite his best result of the season, the Canadian failed to score a point, coming home in seventh position.

Villeneuve's teammate Olivier Panis retired from the race when his engine died on lap 44, while both Jordan drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato were also unable to make it to the end of the 62-lap event.

However, despite their poor start of the year, Honda are determined to continue working to get better results.

"Jacques drove a good race, but I'm very disappointed that we couldn't show the potential of the engine in Olivier's car because of a throttle linkage failure," said Shuhei Nakamoto, Honda's team manager.

"It was obviously a tough race for Giancarlo and Takuma â€" overall not a very good day at the office. However, we know we have more improvements to come so we will persevere until we achieve the result we want."
