Barrichello insists he will race next year

Rubens Barrichello insists there are no doubts about his future in Formula One, despite speculation at Interlagos this weekend that he could be set for retirement

Honda Racing sources claim they are considering their options for 2008, with the driver market still in a state of flux, even though Rubens Barrichello has a firm contract for next year.

Barrichello has responded to question marks about his future, and suggestions that he could even announce his retirement on Sunday evening, by saying he will definitely be at the team in 2008.

When asked whether this could be his last race, he said: "I think that's very much impossible unless I have a problem myself.

"I think people are just trying to create noises right now - I have a contract for next year. I'm driving well, so it shouldn't be a problem.

"I have signed a paper, the team has agreed on terms, so I don't think there's anything to speculate. I've been working on the future of the team and there's a lot of things happening right now, so I think it's just silly comments."

Barrichello admitted that his 2007 season had been a disaster and thinks that poor decisions and bad circumstances were to blame for his failure to score points.

"It's been horrible - as it has been to drive the car," he said. "The situation was that whenever I was driving well to have a situation to score points, everybody else was on the track and I finished ninth.

"And then we made bad decisions in the wet when we had possibilities to score points. And that's been it: zero points."
