Mosley Sends Warning to Silverstone

The Silverstone Circuit, host to the British Grand Prix, has been warned by FIA president Max Mosley that it could lose the event if this year's race turns into another fiasco.

Silverstone, in Northamptonshire, came under scrutiny last year after wet weather caused spectators to walk miles to the track after car-parks were closed.

Mosley has said that another farce this year could result in the British event, which has returned to its usual mid-July date from the April date of 2000, being ditched from the Formula One calendar.

"If we see the same scenes this year as last year it will be difficult to keep the race on the calendar," Mosley warned.

"We have said to Silverstone that we cannot have something on a par with the Olympic Games and the football World Cup being held down the end of a lane in a muddy field.

"But they recognise this. If they want to be part of the World Championship then they know they have to up their game."
