Jordan Hopes Title will Come in Three Years

Team boss Eddie Jordan is confident his team Jordan Grand Prix will become Formula One World Champion in a period of three years, he said.

The Jordan team finished sixth in this year's Constructors' Championship after a very disappointing season, especially considering the expectations raised after finishing third in 1999 behind McLaren and Ferrari.

But Jordan believes the new partnership with Honda, who will officially supply engines to the Silverstone-based team next season, will lead to a big success.

"We have won races but we have never been a major contender for a championship," Jordan said. "But this Honda connection will make it happen. I am sure of that.

"We've got a strong relationship with Honda through Mugen and I am optimistic about becoming champions. It may take another three years to happen but I am sure that it will eventually become reality."

Jordan also admitted that he expects his team to be a serious challenger next year.

"We've got unbelievable expectations for next year. "We start on an even playing field with Ferrari and McLaren and we want to match them if it is possible."
