Villeneuve predicts BAR improvement
Jacques Villeneuve is hopeful his British American Racing car will bring him success next season, following a pointless 1999
The 1997 world champion completed a successful test of the 2000-specification BAR-Honda at Jerez.
Despite a miserable 1999, Villeneuve is confident the team will score points next year.
'We did some good work these last three days with lots of laps,' said the Canadian following last week's test.
'It felt like a real test should. There were no problems with the car or engine, it all seemed to work well.
'We didn't work on any special set-ups, but just concentrated on running a lot and getting in some good mileage.
'We obviously need to have more speed, but that will come very shortly. It was a good first impression and a good sign for the upcoming season.'
Initial preparation work for the upcoming Formula 1 season included engine mapping, cooling system checks and durability tests, and finished with a simulated Grand Prix distance run.
Villeneuve will be partnered by Ricardo Zonta next season.
