Schumacher could determine championship
David Coulthard believes Michael Schumacher's return could focus Ferrari on winning this year's world championship.
The German, who is due to test at Monza for three days this week, is due to make his return to Formula One in the next race at Ferrari's home grand prix at Monza.
'I think Ferrari has lost momentum and I hope they don't gain anything when Michael comes back,' said the Scot.
'It would be better if he took an extra long break. But Ferrari have lost out without him in the last few races as they haven't had his direction and technical input and they've lost performance.
'I don't doubt for one moment Michael's technical ability and drive with the team is listened to, respected and has more of an effect on Ferrari than that of Eddie's [Irvine].
"But that's no disrespect to Eddie. That's a fact of what Michael has achieved and his contractual situation. That's why I believe Ferrari will step up a gear when he comes back.'
