Coulthard to get serious in Austria

It's now or never for David Coulthard as he prepares for an assault on this year's F1 championship

The McLaren star described his recent British GP win as a 'psychological boost' for the rest of the season.

The Scot's victory two weeks ago finally silenced his critics, following his barren start to the season.

It has brought him to within 18 points of team-mate and championship leader Mika Hakkinen.

With Michael Schumacher out for most of the remaining races, the 28-year-old knows he may never get a better opportunity to win the world drivers' crown.

'It's early days for talking about the championship,' he said following his home victory.

'I tend to take each race as it comes and not look at the big picture.

'I'm sure my confidence will improve with this.'

Coulthard will be further encouraged by his performance in last year's event at A1-Ring, when he finished second after qualifying a lowly 14th.

His climb up the field was even more impressive after he was forced to make an unscheduled pit stop following a first lap clash with Mika Salo.
