Benetton hopes high for Austrian GP

Benetton drivers Alexander Wurz and Giancarlo Fisichella will be keen to put in a good performance this weekend at the Austrian Grand Prix

The race, which takes place at the A1-Ring, has a special significance for both drivers.

For Wurz, it is his home race, and for Fisichella, it is the track where he enjoyed his first and only pole position.

Wurz has finished just four races this season, with his highest result being sixth at the Monaco Grand Prix.

He is said to be asking for guarantees from the Italian team over issues such as budget, technical staff and engines before signing up for another season.

Benetton, meanwhile is rumoured to have considered replacing the Austrian, but a lack of options is said to be keeping the two together.

Fisichella's drive looks to be secure. He has put in a much stronger performance for the team this year, than Wurz.

He was on the podium in Canada with a second place, and has notched up a fourth in Australia, fifth in San Marino and Monaco.

So far, he has only retired twice.
