Schumacher says Ferrari must raise game

Michael Schumacher has admitted Ferrari will lose the world title unless they up their game

After his defeat in Hungary, when Mika Hakkinen romped to victory, the double champion confessed his concern at the growing strength of rivals McLaren.

But he said there was a quick fix to Ferrari's speed problems - and they may be back on the pace at the next race in Belgium.

McLaren failed to finish either of the first two races, but since then both cars home in the points in every race but one. David Coulthard has been off the podium once in the last 10 races and Mika Hakkinen has scored in every one. They have been especially strong in the last four races, having won three times and finished one-two twice.

"I am concerned to some degree at the trend, but the problems on our car are in such an area that if we get it right it could be the other way around at the next race," he said. "We could easily be a lot more competitive at Spa."

"It is up to us to work better and find the solutions," he added. "But if it stays like this it is clear we have no chance."
