Tomczyk pleased to silence critics
Martin Tomczyk believes that he silenced his critics with his best season to date in the DTM in 2006
The German took his maiden victory in the series towards the end of the year, and he finished a career best of fourth in the drivers' standings.
"First of all I wanted to prove to myself that I've got what it takes to make it," he said, "but it was the icing on the cake that I could silence the pundits with my success."
Tomczyk has raced for Audi in the DTM since 2001, but during that time his form has fluctuated.
He believes that part of the reason for his form this year was his good working relationship with the team, after a difficult campaign in 2005.
"The sensational cooperation within our team was a real highlight for me this year," he said. "We were improving constantly.
"I had the perfect team in 2004. In 2005 things didn't run quite that smoothly, but this year the co-operation was just fantastic."
