Magnussen joins BMW for Macau
BMW have drafted in Jan Magnussen to bolster their attack on the World Touring Car Championship at Macau
The Dane will join Andy Priaulx at BMW Team UK, run by the Racing Bart Mampaey team.
"I'm really happy to be a part of the season highlight of the WTCC," said Magnussen. "This series is amazingly exciting and the field could hardly be any closer.
"I hope to be able to do my share in BMW's mission to defend both titles, and it's also great to return to this challenging race track."
Despite a recent career in sportscars, Magnussen knows the circuit from his single seater days, when he finished third in the Formula Three Grand Prix in 1994, the year he dominated the British F3 championship.
He also has experience of the latest BMW 320si, which he is racing in the Danish Touring Car Championship, and is currently second in the standings.
Of the nine drivers still vying for the WTCC title, BMW have three that are in with a chance. Priaulx and Jorg Muller are tied in second place, while Dirk Muller is also in the hunt.
Last year, Duncan Huisman was drafted into the RBM team alongside Priaulx. The Dutchman won the second race of the weekend, while Priaulx took the title. Huisman then picked up a full time ride with BMW Italy-Spain for this season.
