Rally GB route set to expand
Wales Rally GB should have a more expansive route in 2008 thanks to the FIA's plans to introduce more remote servicing in the WRC
Andrew Coe, CEO of Rally GB promoters IMS, says that he is looking forward to taking the event back to roads that haven't been used for several years.
"We are going to challenge ourselves to create a more challenging route," Coe said on the main stage at the Autosport International Show.
"With remote servicing we can go further north in Wales. We are looking at visiting stages that fans haven't seen for maybe 10 years."
Coe added that he would love to see the event return to its old format which took the cars much further around the country, but he accepts the current format of WRC events.
"We'd love to expand more, but if we want to keep the rally we have to stick to the rules set by the FIA," he said.
"I think it went too far for a while, but now they seem to be letting the events grow again which is good for the sport."
