Driver of the Year is one of the industry’s most prestigious honours. The award is open to professional racing drivers and is one of the founding Autosport Awards. Seventeen Formula 1 world champions have been awarded Driver of the Year, including Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Rookie of the Year

The Rookie award is open to professional drivers in the first season of their respective categories. First awarded to Jenson Button in 2000, Rookie of the Year has also been awarded to Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri.

Team of the Year is new for 2025 and is open to outstanding teams competing in motorsports and rewards fine teamwork, beyond an individual.

Moment of the Year presented by Bahrain International Circuit

This award recognises defining performances and culturally impactful moments in competition. Originally awarded in 2008 by an expert panel, this award is now in the hands of fans for the second year in a row.

Creator of the Year Award

We've introduced this new category to honor the creators who are redefining how fans engage with motorsport—bringing personality, passion, and storytelling to every corner of the sport.

British Competition Driver of the Year

7 Nominees

One of the original Autosport Awards, British Competition Driver is open to British drivers competing in major series. Lewis Hamilton holds the record with eight wins, with Lando Norris and Jenson Button second on five, while Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill and Martin Brundle are also former winners.

Competition Car of the Year

Racing Car of the Year and Rally Car of the Year, which both date back to the first Autosport Awards, were amalgamated to create the Competition Car of the Year in 2023. It is open to cars competing in any class of international circuit racing or rallying and was won in 2024 by McLaren’s F1 title-winning MCL38.

Rally Driver of the Year

Michele Mouton was the first winner of the Rally Driver of the Year Award and it has since been won by many of the great names in the sport, including Colin McRae, Richard Burns and Sebastien Loeb. Current star Sebastien Ogier won it in 2024, taking his total to a record-setting eight.
