Winterbottom on pole at Pukekohe
Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom has taken pole position for the PlaceMakers V8 Supercars at Pukekohe, New Zealand
Winterbottom, who claimed his maiden V8 Supercar pole, led a closely-bunched top ten, covered by less than four-tenths of a second.
Starting alongside Winterbottom will be Barbagallo victor Garth Tander in his Toll HSV Dealer Team Holden, who took the place in the dying seconds of the final leg of qualifying.
The second row sees another FPR-Toll HSV row, with Steven Richards ahead of reigning series champion Rick Kelly. Jamie Whincup completes the top five in the Team Vodafone Ford.
Ford drivers James Courtney and Craig Lowndes will start seventh and eighth after showing stronger form in the second leg of qualifying than the final one.
Local heroes Jason Richards and Greg Murphy failed to make the top ten, and will start from 11th and 12th respectively.
The field has been reduced by one, Jack Perkins not racing after a heavy accident at the final turn during Friday practice.
