Todd Kelly wins race one

Kelly came under pressure in the closing laps from Toll HSV Dealer Team's Garth Tander before Tander dropped back at the end, as the field raced under the threat of rain, the rain staying away until after the race was over.

Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom completed the top three, the top three in the same order as they were after the shootout.

Next was Tasman Motorsport's Jason Richards, who (just) held off a hard-charging Craig Lowndes in the closing laps, the duo making contact into the first chicane on the final lap.

After his shootout crash, Toll HSV Dealer Team's Rick Kelly gained some ground in the race, finishing eighth, though he lost a place to Jack Daniel's Racing's Steven Richards on the second last lap.

Jamie Whincup and Mark Skaife had troubled races - Whincup out early after hitting the tyres, while Skaife's race was compromised after an extra pit stop for a loose wheel nut, soon followed by a drive-through penalty for missing a chicane.
