Tander wins race two
Toll HSV Dealer Team's Garth Tander made up for yesterday, by taking victory in race two of the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge at Surfers Paradise
Tander took the lead at the start and was not headed, despite heavy pressure from race one winner Todd Kelly and a couple of safety car periods, the top duo swapping positions from yesterday.
Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom finished third, one place ahead of Toll HSV's Rick Kelly, who gained a place at the pit stops when Jason Richards fell from third to fifth.
After ending race one thinking his points lead had increased, Craig Lowndes' weekend took a turn, being penalised post-race (along with James Courtney) for spinning his wheels approaching the grid, dropping him from fifth to eleventh (and Courtney from sixth to seventeenth).
Lowndes lost more ground in race one to Kelly, despite moving up four places from his starting position.
Lowndes' teammate Jamie Whincup lost six places after race two for taking his pit stop too late and receiving a one lap penalty, possibly as a result of the opening of the pit window being pushed back because of the safety car periods, the pit window still closing at the same time.
Both Jack Daniel's cars failed to finish, Steven Richards appearing to suffer driveline problems at the start with Dumbrell bringing out one of the safety car periods when he hit the wall following contact from Cameron McConville.
