Bright claims Oran Park pole
Ford Performance Racing's Jason Bright has taken pole position for this weekend's racing at Oran Park in Sydney
Bright was nearly half a second faster than Holden Racing Team's Mark Skaife, with Triple Eight's Craig Lowndes third fastest in his Ford.
Skaife's teammate Todd Kelly was next fastest just ahead of another Holden in the form of Tasman Motorsport's Jason Richards.
The championship-leading Toll HSV Dealer Team Holdens were just a tick off the pace, with Garth Tander and Rick Kelly in seventh and eighth, while Dean Canto sprung a surprise to make the shootout and qualify tenth in his Garry Rogers Holden.
Steven Richards struggled, his fastest lap only good enough for sixteenth position, one place behind teammate Paul Dumbrell.
However, Richards was better off than reigning series champion and 2005 Oran Park victor Russell Ingall, who will start near the back of the field in 23rd position.
