Lorenzo not concerned by slow start

Reigning 250cc world champion Jorge Lorenzo says he is not worried about the pace he has had on a MotoGP bike so far this winter

The Spaniard was 10th and 11th on his first two days with the factory Yamaha squad at Valencia last week, and he was ninth fastest out of 10 riders at Sepang on Thursday.

However, the two-time 250cc world champion is happy with the way things have gone so far.

"The first day has been quite positive, even if I haven't been so fast," Lorenzo said on the official MotoGP website. "Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow because we have a lot to do.

"I'm struggling a bit to find the fast laptimes but this is normal because there is so much about the bike that I don't understand."

The 20-year-old believes that he knows where he is losing time, and he is trying to adapt his riding style to suit the bigger bikes.

"All the time I'm feeling more natural on the bike and I can feel the difference from Valencia," he said. "But I need to make a few changes to my riding style.

"It's hard for me to use all the power at the moment and I need to learn to be slower and smoother in the corners, and to open the throttle a bit earlier.

"Tomorrow we will have some new things to try, including a new fork, and I will just keep working steadily."
