Weekend review and results round-up

The Ganassi team had the most to celebrate this weekend, as it triumphed in both of America's premier racing series

At Lexington, Dario Franchitti delivered another IndyCar win for the squad as he held championship leader Will Power at bay in a tense finale. But the biggest story was at Watkins Glen, where Juan Pablo Montoya finally achieved his second NASCAR Sprint Cup race win with one of his finest drives in stock cars yet.

There was a breakthrough in the American Le Mans Series too, where Dyson Racing's Chris Dyson and Guy Smith took their Lola-Mazda coupe to its first outright win - a maiden triumph for the Japanese manufacturer.

In Europe, it was a good weekend for championship leaders consolidating their status, as Bruno Spengler and Edoardo Mortara's victories in the DTM and Formula 3 Euro Series respectively strengthened their positions.

In the British Touring Car Championship, double winner Jason Plato left Snetterton with his points advantage much stronger, but Gordon Shedden kept himself in the hunt with a race three win, while Jean-Eric Vergne's 10th and 11th victories of the British Formula 3 season edged him closer to the crown.
