New Zealand fastest at Silverstone

New Zealand carried their fine form from the last A1GP season into pre-season testing as Jonny Reid set the fastest time at Silverstone on Tuesday

Reid set the fastest ever lap for an A1GP car around Silverstone's National circuit layout, which was last used by the cars in 2005, when Alexandre Premat set the best time for Team France.

The 23-year-old completed more laps than all but one of the other cars out on track on Tuesday, and he believes that the team can be even stronger on the second and final day of testing on Wednesday.

"Today we have just been trying things, just to see what the cars can do and we found some interesting things," said Reid.

"The car was fantastic in the final run but there are definitely some areas where we can improve tomorrow."

Narain Karthikeyan was second fastest for Team India, while Team Netherlands will be upbeat ahead of their home race at Zandvoort after Jeroen Bleekemolen was third fastest.

Loic Duval was fourth quickest for Team France, while China completed the top five with Cong Fu Cheng behind the wheel.

Oliver Jarvis was three tenths of a second adrift of Reid in sixth place for Great Britain, while reigning champions Team Germany were only eighth with Christian Vietoris, who will lead the team this season.
