India end Silverstone test on top

The former Formula One driver was less than one tenth of a second faster than Tuesday's pacesetters New Zealand, as several teams eclipsed the best time from day one.

Karthikeyan is upbeat for the upcoming season after his performance during the past two days, and he believes that India will be a genuine threat at the front of the field this season.

"Going by the last two days we won't be bad and it looks like we will be up there," he said. "It was just testing, but it is a great confidence boost."

Behind the top two, Neel Jani was third fastest for Switzerland, as the Champ Car driver prepares to been involved in the series for the third season running.

Reigning champions Germany were much closer to the front-runners on the second day, as Christian Vietoris set the fourth fastest time.

Alex Yoong completed the top five for Malaysia, while only France and the Netherlands failed to improve on their times from day one.
