Minassian, Gene take Silverstone win

Nicolas Minassian and Marc Gene took their second Le Mans Series victory of the year at Silverstone on Sunday

The Peugeot drivers had not won a race since their success in the season-opener at Monza, but they enjoyed a trouble-free run to the flag at the British circuit.

The same could not be said for their teammates Pedro Lamy and Stephane Sarrazin, who had recovered from problems earlier in the race to get back up to second, only to drop out in the closing laps of the race.

The second car had dropped to fifth position after Lamy had picked up a puncture, but the Portuguese driver had just regained second place when race officials called him in to repair damage to his rear wing.

However, there was not enough time remaining for the mechanics to carry out the repairs.

Second place overall went to the Pescarolo of Jean-Christophe Boullion and Emmanuel Collard, while British team Rollcentre Racing made the podium in their own Pescarolo, with Stuart Hall and Joao Barbosa at the wheel.

LMP2 honours went to the Barazi Epsilon Zytek of Juan Barazi, Michael Vergers and Karim Ojeh, while British squad Team LNT were second on their class debut, with Tom Kimber-Smith and Danny Watts driving their Zytek.

Stephane Ortelli and Soheil Ayari took the GT1 victory in their Oreca-run Saleen, while Robert Bell wrapped up the GT2 title as he took victory with Gianmaria Bruni for Virgo Motorsport.
