Karthikeyan hopes for more success

Narain Karthikeyan is looking ahead to achieving more good results for Team India during the rest of the A1GP season after scoring points on his series debut

The Williams Formula One test driver took a seventh place during his first weekend of competing in the series in New Zealand, and he was impressed by the performance of the inexperienced team.

He said: "We scored the first points for Team India, so I'm really pleased. That was what I wanted, and we couldn't really have expected anything more."

While the team has not confirmed that the 30-year-old will race again for them during this season, Karthikeyan is already targeting the team's first victory following his feature race result at Taupo.

"We've got some valuable information to build on now and to win by the end of the season must be our goal," he added.

"I've been really pleasantly surprised at how good and professional the team is. I really believe in the team now, and I think we will get some great results together this season."

While Karthikeyan has made his intentions for the rest of the season clear, Team India boss Yohann Setna did not confirm that the former F1 racer would complete the championship.

"We leave New Zealand with our first ever points in A1GP, and hopefully this is only the start," he said.

"We are very lucky to have such an experienced driver with the team, and we hope to welcome him back soon."
