Castroneves wants more races
Helio Castroneves is hoping to make more appearances in the American Le Mans Series after the Sebring 12 Hours in March
The IndyCar driver was confirmed as part of Penske's line-up for the season-opener, but after testing the Porsche RS Spyder this week he is hoping to race the car again later in the season.
The ALMS and the IndyCar Series will share the bill on three weekends this year, and Castroneves is already targeting the first of these events at St. Petersburg at the end of March.
"When Penske decided to give me this opportunity, I was very excited," he said. "This is a really tremendous experience for me, and I'd love to do double-duty at St Petersburg."
The car that Castroneves was sharing with Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard was quickest in testing at Sebring on Monday, and the Brazilian enjoyed the experience of driving the LMP2 prototype.
"This car has features like carbon brakes and paddle shifting, it has a different seating position and it's heavier," he said.
"It's a great car and a great team," he said. "It's much nicer and easier to drive than an IndyCar."
