Gugelmin continues pre-season tests
Mauricio Gugelmin completed more than 100 miles for PacWest Racing at Florida's Sebring International Raceway
The ex-Formula 1 driver recorded a total of 115 miles during the first of a two-day session.
The PacWest team boss, Russell Cameron, said, 'It was a typical test day really.
'We encountered a few minor glitches, but nothing that really hurt us.
'Mo was able to run a good number of laps and generate some solid data regarding the new 2000 equipment.
'We didn't quite reach all of our goals today, but we definitely reached a lot of them.
'While we still have work to do and we're experiencing the minor teething pains associated with any chassis and engine, we're very pleased with the results so far.'
Monday's session was Gugelmin's third outing in the team's 2000 package.
The Brazilian is confident of success next season.
'We were very encouraged by the performance of the new Mercedes-Benz IC108F and the Reynard 2KI during our first test at Sebring, and we had another productive session today.
'From the moment I ran those first few laps in the new car two weeks ago, I felt we had something special.
'It's certainly a nice feeling to head into the new season with this kind of confidence.'
Gugelmin will continue testing today.
