Euro F3's future looking brighter
The Formula 3 Euro Series is set to continue next year, the organisers announced on Sunday
The future of the series has been the subject of much speculation this year, following a drop in grid numbers to around 12-13 cars at most races.
The remaining Euro Series teams have admitted to having an interest in moving to the British championship if the Euro Series does not recover. But Gerd Ennser, the board member for motor racing at the German motorsport authority (DMSB), told reporters at the Nurburgring that teams had signed an agreement signalling an agreement to staying in the championship for 2011.
"We've had meetings with the teams this weekend, and there have been talks with the DMSB, [French federation] FFSA and the FIA," he said.
"The FIA wants to support F3, and there will be an FIA recognised Euro Series next year. We will continue.
"The teams have signed an agreement saying they want to stay, and now we need to work on the details to make the series more attractive."
Ennser added that the organisers expect to have the final details of their plans in place by the next round of the Euro Series at Zandvoort in two weeks' time.
