Villeneuve 'Feeling More Positive' about New BAR

Jacques Villeneuve refused to get too carried away after completing the latest test of his British American Racing team's new 004 car, but he did say the challenger is improving.

Jacques Villeneuve refused to get too carried away after completing the latest test of his British American Racing team's new 004 car, but he did say the challenger is improving.

Canadian Villeneuve indicated at the team's launch of the BAR004 before Christmas that he would follow former team boss Craig Pollock out of the team if the new car did not live up to his high expectations.

The former World Champion is yet to top the times in testing and is often around two seconds off the pace of the top teams, but after completing a three-day test at Barcelona on Wednesday he suggested the car is improving.

"Today was a better day for me," said Villeneuve, who completed 62 laps in the BAR004 on Wednesday. "We did some good set-up work and the car felt better than it did on Tuesday so I'm feeling more positive."

Villeneuve's teammate Olivier Panis suffered a blow-out of his Honda engine on Wednesday, but the team are confident they can improve this year on their 17 points scored last season.
