Villeneuve Expresses Track Safety Concerns

Canadian Jacques Villeneuve has expressed his concerns about a potential dangerous spot at the revised Hockenheim circuit.

Canadian Jacques Villeneuve has expressed his concerns about a potential dangerous spot at the revised Hockenheim circuit.

The German track has been heavily revised for this year's race, with its length being shortened by more than two kilometers. The old long straights running among the woods, where the cars used to reach more than 350 km/h, have now been replaced with a much slower twisty section.

However, British American Racing driver Villeneuve, said after Friday's practice for the German Grand Prix that he was concerned about the concrete wall right before the entry of the Motordrom, where the cars arrive at around 250 km/h.

"The old layout was very different but it's just like any other track now," said Villeneuve. "There's one section of the track which really concerns me - the short straight before the entrance to the stadium section where the wall comes back towards the track.

"Generally, it's a typical modern circuit and not as interesting to drive, but there should be a couple of good overtaking opportunities."
