Trouble-Free Day for Toyota Drivers

Both Mika Salo and Allan McNish enjoyed a trouble-free practice session on Friday at Toyota's 'home' Grand Prix at the Nurburgring circuit.

The Cologned-based squad, whose factory is just 40 minutes away from the German circuit, completed a positive day, with Finn Salo posting the ninth fastest time at the wheel of the Michelin-shod car.

The veteran driver was satisfied with his progress and admitted he enjoys the new track layout.

"Not many problems today," said Salo. "We are trying to find a good set-up on the car. I am suffering from slight understeer and some other bits and pieces on the electronics side, but nothing major.

"I really like the new circuit layout, especially turns two and three - the circuit is quite tricky and more demanding."

Scot Allan McNish slid down the order after posting a promising fourth quickest time in the morning session, finishing down in 18th position at the end of the afternoon hour-long practice.

"All went reasonably well today with no major drama," said McNish. "We have been effectively learning a new circuit, very similar to the old Nurburgring with a little ditch at the first corner.

"The team is working hard on the set-up, but we had no problems with both of the cars running relatively trouble-free."
