Panis Sets the Pace in the Morning Session - Barcelona

Toyota's Olivier Panis edged out the McLaren duo this morning at Barcelona, setting the fastest lap time less than a tenth of a second ahead of Alexander Wurz.

Toyota's Olivier Panis edged out the McLaren duo this morning at Barcelona, setting the fastest lap time less than a tenth of a second ahead of Alexander Wurz.

Panis, who joined Toyota for the 2003 season, set a time of 1:17.190 and was joined by Wurz and David Coulthard as the only drivers today to go into the 1:17 bracket.

Six teams are currently testing at Barcelona, with Ralf Schumacher making a first appearance in the off-season for Williams, joining teammate Juan Pablo Montoya and test driver Marc Gene. Schumacher lead the Williams timetable - setting a time some two tenths faster than Montoya and almost a second faster than Gene.

Jaguar Racing's Mark Webber, who was fastest throughout yesterday's session, was fifth fastest in the morning today, while his teammate Antonio Pizzonia, who was sidelined yesterday after crashing his R3 on his first timed lap, was ninth fastest this morning, and only ahead of the two Renault drivers.
