Jordan '50 Seconds Away from Glory'

Jordan celebrated their 200th Grand Prix in style with Giancarlo Fisichella's second place finish in the Brazilian Grand Prix - but it was a bitter sweet experience.

Fisichella finished the Interlagos race behind winner Kimi Raikkonen but thought he had finally ended his search for victory. The Italian had overtaken Raikkonen after the McLaren driver made a mistake, but Jaguar's Mark Webber and Renault driver Fernando Alonso crashed heavily seconds later and the race was stopped.

Fisichella and the Jordan team celebrated thinking they had won, but the results were decided on the previous lap - when Raikkonen was still ahead.

"We were 50 seconds from glory," said team boss Eddie Jordan. "We could have won the race had it not been stopped with the strategy we had. It could have been a fairytale. But if someone had told me we would have been on the podium here I would have said they were out of their mind - but it happened.

"I said afterwards to Gary (Anderson), count back, how many times had he passed in the lead? Just one more pass and he would have won."

The Jordan story started in 1991 and has now included 18 podiums, three victories and two pole positions. The highlight came in the Belgian Grand Prix in 1998 when Damon Hill led home Ralf Schumacher in a Jordan one-two.
