Engine suppliers Honda are to overhaul their Formula One project after a disappointing start to the 2002 season, according to research and development president Takeo Fukui.
The British American Racing and Jordan teams, who are both supplied by works Honda engines, have yet to score a point this year following one their most disappointing starts of a season.
Even after introducing an evolved power unit at Imola for the San Marino Grand Prix, neither of the Honda teams managed to come much closer to the top-six, and Fukui has revealed that major changes are needed at Honda if they are to repeat the success of the 1980's and 1990's.
"I am awfully disappointed that we have not been able to provide any positive news from the past three races," Fukui told Autosport magazine. "And I do feel we seriously have to rehash our operation and use this Imola race as our turning point."
Honda, multiple World Champions and winners of 71 Grands Prix in the past, returned to Formula One at the start of the 2000 season.
